Happy 7th Birthday Wally

It was Wally's birthday today and we had a lot of fun.  We played musical statues, pin the tail on Wally and hide and seek.  Then we got to eat cake and marshmellow mice.  Thanks B6 for joining us to celebrate Wally's birthday.

Wally's Next Big Adventure

In the last school holidays Wally, our class giraffe, went on a holiday to Australia with Hayzel.  He enjoyed his trip so much he couldn't wait to go on another one so today he left us again to travel to Hong Kong and Vietnam with Nicole.  He is very excited and Nicole has promised that she will teach Wally some Vietnamese in case he meets another giraffe on his travels.

Saying goodbye to Wally
It will take Wally about 11 or 12 hours to fly to Vietnam on the aeroplane.  Here is a map of Vietnam.

We will miss you Wally and Nicole but we know you will have a great time.  We can't wait to hear all about your adventures when you get back.

Here comes the sun, by Wally

I woke up this morning, looked out the window and it wasn't raining!  I couldn't wait to get outside to feel the sun on my spots and the wind in my tail.  I decided to go for a walk around Cornwall park, I'd heard that some animals lived there and I was hoping I might run into another giraffe to play with.  Sadly there were no giraffes but I did meet some cows and sheep, although they weren't really interested in chatting.

Christmas and New Year, By Wally.

Hi there, I have had a great Christmas and New Year. I had Christmas with Miss Mac's family and it was lots of fun.  I got to play with Miss Mac's nephews, eat pavlova and chocolate log and have a sleep in the sun.  I even got to go for a ride on a scooter with Miss Mac's nephew! Since Christmas it's been raining so I've spent a lot of time sleeping with my new friend, Artimis.  I hope everyone is having a good holiday.

When Wally met Harold

For the next two weeks the life education bus is visiting our school.  On Tuesday we got to go onto the bus and met Harold the giraffe.  We took Wally along and Harold was very exicited to meet him.  While we were on the bus we learned about V.I.Ps and found out that we are all very important people.

Wally Returns

On Monday we got a parcel and inside the parcel we found Wally and lots of other surprises.  Wally has been in Australia staying with the preps at a school in Melbourne for the last seven weeks and we are very happy to have him back.  The preps sent us lots of surprises, we all got a key ring and a balloon each, we also got an Australian flag and a little Koala.  Wally has a fancy new scarf as well.  Thanks preps for taking such good care of Wally and sending us such wonderful gifts.

Meeting the kittens

On Thursday we skyped with our friends in Australia, Learning Together.  We got to see their rabbit blue bell and her seven kittens.  The kittens have grown since we last saw them and Wally is having a great time playing with them.  You can see Wally playing with the kittens by clicking here.

Is Wally on a plane?

We have just returned from our two week holiday to find that Wally has gone on another adventure.  This time he has left us to visit a class in Australia.  Rohit has written a story about what Wally might be doing.  What do you think?  Will Wally get to ride on a camel?

Meeting our blogging friends

Today we skyped with a class in Australia.  Wally is going to be visting them next term and two of their class mascots, Wattle and Wally the wombats, will be coming to visit us.  We got to ask them questions about how to look after Wattle and Wally.   You can look at the blog of the class Wally will be visiting by clicking on this link:  Learning together.   We are looking forward to meeting Wally and Wattle.

Listen to Noelani's story about how she'll feel when Wally is gone.

Where's Wally?

Yesterday our class mascot, Wally left us to go on a trip to Christchurch.  He is going to be staying with a class who we meet through blogging!  We are a little sad, but we can't wait to see what he gets up to while he is down there!  The Springston Explorers are going to send us their mascot, hopefully he gets here in time to go on our trip to the museum!
