As I Was Going Out One Day

We have been learning a funny poem called 'As I Was Going Out One Day'.  The children have been using the ipad to practice reading it with fluency and expression.  Here are Tarik, Epi and Edrin reading the poem.

Our Botanic Garden reflection

After our trip to the Auckland Botanic Gardens I gave the children the option of using the ipad to record themselves sharing what they learned and/or a question they would like the answer to.  They were able to do this when they had some spare time and had completed their set work. This is the first time they have used the ipad to record themselves and here is a video of the results.

Now our challenge is to answer some of these questions.  Share your ideas about how we could find the answers by leaving a comment.

Botanic Gardens

On Tuesday we went to the Auckland Botanic Gardens.  We were very lucky to have wonderful weather and we had a great time exploring the gardens and learning about plants.

Take a look at our slideshow, most of the pictures are taken by A3 children and a few by Miss Mac.

Here is Kobi, Edrin and Krishicant reading the stories they wrote about the trip

Captain Blackbeard

When we got to school on Monday Wally was gone!  He'd left a letter telling us that he had gone on a treasure hunt with Captain Blackbeard.  We had to follow the clues left by Captain Blackbeard each day to find Wally and the treasure.

Off in search of a clue

Here is Edrin reading her story about what happened on Wally

Captain Blackbeard also said we needed to write letters telling him why we would make good pirates.  Here are Jett and Loveday reading their letters.

Welcome Back!

We are all back at school for the new year and it is very exciting.  This year the children in A3 are year 2s, so we are a little older and there are alot more of us! Take a look at the slideshow to meet the children who are in A3 this year,  you might recognise some of the faces.  We are looking forward to sharing our learning with everyone.
