East Idol

On Friday we held the finals of East Idol and two of the groups in the final were from A3.  It was great to see them singing and dancing in front of the whole school and both groups did a great job.  Take a look at the video to see some of the performances and performers.

The Fun Bus

In the first week of term three we read The Fun Bus by Jill Eggleton.

We enjoyed it so much we decided to make our own fun bus.

Some of the children also wrote stories about thier fun bus.  Shirley has worked hard to make a video of their stories using imovie.  We hope you enjoy them.

The Fierce Little Woman and the Wicked Pirate

We read 'The Fierce Little Woman and the Wicked Pirate' By Joy Cowley.

We really enjoyed the story and the pictures.  We talked about the descriptive language Joy Cowley used and some children choose to write thier own version of the story.  Here are Paki and Ron reading their pirate stories.

Our Botanic Garden reflection

After our trip to the Auckland Botanic Gardens I gave the children the option of using the ipad to record themselves sharing what they learned and/or a question they would like the answer to.  They were able to do this when they had some spare time and had completed their set work. This is the first time they have used the ipad to record themselves and here is a video of the results.

Now our challenge is to answer some of these questions.  Share your ideas about how we could find the answers by leaving a comment.

Rugby, by Paki

Paki loves playing with his brother Joseph and he has written a story about it.  This is the first story Paki has recorded this year and he has read his story with great fluency.  It must have been all the practice he got in A4 last year.  Awesome work Paki.

Welcome Back!

We are all back at school for the new year and it is very exciting.  This year the children in A3 are year 2s, so we are a little older and there are alot more of us! Take a look at the slideshow to meet the children who are in A3 this year,  you might recognise some of the faces.  We are looking forward to sharing our learning with everyone.
