Volcano Paintings

We have spent the last few weeks making volcano pictures.  First we painted the background using water, sponges and paint.  Once it had dried we painted the volcano and used a scrubbing brush to flick black paint onto our pictures to create the ash.  We then used cotton wool to make smoke and glued on black paper to make the rocks. Take a look at our slide show to see our finished work. Thanks to Ben Des Forges for taking the photos of the volcanoes for us.

The Fun Bus

In the first week of term three we read The Fun Bus by Jill Eggleton.

We enjoyed it so much we decided to make our own fun bus.

Some of the children also wrote stories about thier fun bus.  Shirley has worked hard to make a video of their stories using imovie.  We hope you enjoy them.

Lavender Paintings

Last term Mrs Botica came into our class and taught us how to sketch lavender.  It was very enjoyable and everyone did great sketches.  We then wanted to create a lavender painting and lucky for us Mrs Botica and Loveday had a great idea on how to create amazing lavender pictures.  Take a look at our finished art.

Picasso Portraits

We have spent the last six weeks learning about portraits.  We have sketched a partner, taken portraits of each other with the digital camera and used paint on the computer to practice drawing our faces.  We looked at Picasso's portraits and we practiced drawing our faces without lifting our pen off the paper so that they would look like Picasso's work.  Then we learned about mixing colors and we have finally completed our pictures and they look great! Take a look at the slide show to see our completed work.

Maui and the sun

We have been reading the book Maui and the sun.  It's about how Maui and his brothers work as a team to slow down the sun so that everyone can enjoy longer days.

We talked about how we are a team as well and shared our ideas about how we all help in our classroom.  Then we made our own sun and took photos of ourselves pulling the sun in.  It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed learning how to use the cameras.  Take a look at our finished display.
